READING RESOURCES FOR PARENTS
One of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child is a love for reading. Many parents begin reading while the child is still in the womb. Infants seem enchanted by the sound of their mother's voice as she reads. Toddlers and pre-schoolers enjoy a bedtime story with their parents. Most experts recommend a minimum of 30 minutes per day reading with your child. Reading stimulates the brain and cultivates the imagination. Most local libraries provide a "story hour" weekly for their patrons. Please don't rely on your library to provide your child with the opportunity to explore the world of literature. The ultimate responsibility for instilling the love of reading belongs with the parents.
We hope the following web sites may provide you with information to help you and your child on your journey to the "world of reading.
